The Botanist Newcastle

The Botanist is a beautiful space with a great atmosphere. I had onion rings and the seasoned fries, both of which were absolutely fantastic and a great value in my opinion. The downside for me is the service. We first had to wait a few minutes for anyone to notice us waiting to be seated, and it was the bartender that finally did, not waitstaff. On the tables are menus, but there doesn’t appear to be table service (which is fine, but not clearly communicated), and you have to order via your phone. The online ordering asks for you to both login with email, and then also provide your phone number and you cannot skip it. We were able to order at the bar, but it’s a little bit of an annoyance to find that out later. Online ordering also does not reflect special prices, nor does it allow special instructions. The staff themselves are very friendly and kind though, and overall I would definitely come back and recommend it. Just hope those quirks with the ordering can be worked out or better communicated.

Food and atmosphere were great. The food came out hot and tasted great. Had trouble getting seated, it was wait to be seated, which took a couple minutes, then we were asked to sit wherever in the bar. Automated ordering where you had to login with your phone and email, although ordering at bar is allowed. The menu didn't reflect special pricing, so might've had to pay double if I didn't ask a person. Drink from the menu wasn't on the online menu. When I asked about these missing menu items the staff were very nice and helpful.

I came on Valentine’s Day 2026 and it was a great experience! We did have to wait until 6:30pm even though we booked 6:15 pm but it was busy. The staff were all lovely and we got a nice photo taken and the young lad with the buz cut gave great customer experience! The highlight of the night had to be the food it was exceptional. The starter was delicious, then the surf and turf hanging kebab had amazing flavour absolutely spectacular. The prawns and the steak seasoned so well. The desert did not disappoint aswell. I would definitely return for the food - definitely a restaurant who cares about the meals they serve and put effort into the presentation, customer service and flavour which is something I respect
