This place is gorgeous. The food is delicious and well cooked. The atmosphere is one of a kind. My only issue was the slow service. I noticed one person come to the table and brings water and the menus then disappears. After a long time a different one comes for drinks. I didn't like that at all. We ended up eating very late and I couldn't even order their desert.

This was a very odd, frustrating, and disappointing visit, unfortunately. Not being from Newcastle, I was hoping for something a bit special - something extravagant. Sadly, this place was far from it. We had a reservation for Saturday evening and requested a good seat, but were placed in the “summer house” area, which didn’t feel as warm or welcoming as the main restaurant. I asked if we could be moved inside, but was told no - fair enough. However, from that moment on, the experience just kept going downhill. Right from the start, the service felt off. The first thing we were asked was, “How can I help?” - I mean, it’s a restaurant… what kind of response were they expecting? A proper welcome with a smile and a simple, “Hi, welcome! Do you have a reservation?” would’ve been the professional approach. It felt cold and uninviting. Now to the food - the cocktails were terrible. I had a star martini, and it was overly sour and didn’t resemble a proper classic at all. Definitely skip it if you visit. We then had the crab tacos, and oh my… uncomfortable to eat, way too crunchy, and the crab tasted cheap - like something out of a supermarket pack. The only thing we could actually taste was the overwhelming amount of onions on top. When they asked how the food was and we gave honest feedback, the server seemed visibly unhappy, and instead of acknowledging it or apologising, she tried to convince us it’s one of their top dishes and that “everyone loves it.” What made it worse was watching her walk straight over to a colleague, clearly gossiping and throwing us dirty looks - which made us feel extremely uncomfortable. It didn’t stop there - they brought out the wrong fries, and the pasta was completely bland. The only thing that was somewhat okay was the steak, but even that arrived cold, which was incredibly disappointing. Honestly, I feel sorry for locals if this is considered one of the better places to eat. The food was well below average, and the vibe from the staff felt toxic and unwelcoming. This place left a bad taste in every sense. Stay away - not worth your time, money, or energy.

First of all the food is absolutely delicious, especially the steak and fries which is very well priced. The smaller plates including sushi are slightly overpriced in my opinion but still delicious, just a very small portion size. My problem was with the wait staff, unfortunately we had to wait 30 minutes after asking for some water, and for them to even ask if we wanted to order a drink. The food came out promptly after ordering and was lovely, but the waitress then said we could have desserts but would have to move to the bar area to eat them as someone else had booked our table afterwards, this would be fair enough if we hadn’t been kept waiting 30 minutes for just a drink. I can’t give lower than 4 stars because the food was genuinely lovely, just wish it was a tad more organised and that we didn’t feel rushed.
