The Groom Room Newcastle Byker

I recently took my 2-year-old Pomeranian, Beau, to the Groom Room at Pets at Home and had a very disappointing experience. Despite my clear explanations about his undercoat and which areas I wanted trimmed, the staff refused to provide the grooming service I requested. Instead, they only cut his feet, nails, and bottom, (stating they could not cut anywhere else due to their salon rules) yet charged me an outrageous £60 for a ‘full signature groom’ which was NOT provided. On my next visit, I brought in a photo showing how Forpaws in Gosforth had groomed him previously, hoping for a similar cut. Instead, the staff were dismissive and refused this. They showed obvious annoyance when I suggested a hygiene groom instead because of their incompetence and refusal to cut him to the Pomeranian standard. When I picked him up an hour later, he had merely been brushed and had his nails cut-nothing else was done, no bath, no trim. It was clear they lacked the capability or knowledge to perform any sort of proper Pomeranian cut or shaping. When I was paying the woman at the front desk she handed me an info sheet about double-coated dogs and insisted they couldn’t "clip" him, even though I had explicitly requested a scissor only cut, as for all fellow pom owners know is the rule for their groom. I left feeling frustrated and undervalued as a pet owner who actually understands my dog's grooming needs unlike the staff there. I will definitely be returning to Forpaws, as it is evident that the staff at the Groom Room are unqualified and incapable of providing the grooming services they advertise. I cannot recommend them based on my experience.

I’ve always had exceptional service at pets at home in the fossway shopping hub. They helped me choose coats for the size of my dog, jumpers harnesses and leads etc always polite and helpful I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. I don’t understand why some have said the staff were impolite?

The place needs to expand its infrastructure, it has the room. It takes 3 months to book an X small dog in for a quick wash. Unworkable.
